High Pavilion, 13” x 21” image.
Landscape on handmade Japanese mulberry paper, mounted on silk borders
with printed paper accents.
The borders are proportioned as they would be in a hanging scroll, with
the height of “heaven” on the top greater than the amount
of “earth” at the bottom. Mountains towering above the village
roofs, tea is served in a crimson pavilion. As the landscape recedes
into the mist, it becomes more and more faint, bringing to mind the two
characters of the word “landscape” - “mountain” and “water”. |
