ECCENTRICITIES, NEW WORK IN CHINESE INK is Sandi Gardner's one-person show of
29 works, primarily non-traditional. Included are abstract landscapes, as well as three-dimensional
work using calligraphy characters enclosed in fabric and characters rendered in needlepoint and
appliqué. Much of the calligraphy showcases characters used in repetition to convey a theme or
experiment with the abstract effect of the characters themselves. Also shown are poetry and
religious texts rendered traditionally, but using large sheets of handmade Japanese papers,
some as large as 26" x 72", and Japanese inks.
